The Islamic Education Centre for the Deaf (IECD) — a pioneering
institution dedicated to providing high-quality Islamic education, Qur’an
literacy, and sign language training for the deaf community.
Since 2020, IECD has been transforming lives by breaking communication
barriers and making Islamic knowledge accessible to all.
Our work goes beyond teaching; we actively engage in researching and
customizing prayers, Islamic teachings, and religious knowledge into
accessible sign-based formats that meet the unique learning needs of
deaf individuals, enabling them to understand, practice, and live as
Muslims with confidence and dignity.
We provide specialized Qur’an education using sign language and visual learning methods.
We train madrasa teachers in Tanzanian Sign Language for effective communication.
We develop new methods to make Islamic knowledge accessible to the deaf.
We provide sign language interpretation during sermons and Islamic gatherings.
